When Life Feels Uncertain: A 3-Step Reset

Things may be unsteady, but you don’t have to be.

You’ve been there: maybe a project got delayed. Maybe your job isn’t fulfilling anymore. Maybe you’re staring down a big life change… or just waking up with that “off” feeling you can’t name.

Uncertainty shows up in all kinds of ways — and it often brings a foggy mix of frustration, doubt, and pressure to “figure it out.” Here’s some good news: you don’t need a new five-year plan to get unstuck. You just need to pause, check in, and take your next step, intentionally.

Here’s a 3-step approach you can use anytime things feel unclear:

  1. Feel — What’s actually going on? We often rush to fix things before we even know what’s wrong. But feelings are useful signals — if we slow down long enough to notice and name them.

💠 Ask yourself:  ✅ What am I feeling right now? What might be underneath it?  ✅ Am I trying to skip ahead before I’ve even acknowledged what’s here?

  2. Ask — What’s in your control? Uncertainty makes everything feel overwhelming. But not all of it is yours to carry. 💠 Ask yourself:

✅What’s mine to influence or decide? ✅What am I taking responsibility for that isn’t actually mine?

  3. Choose — What’s your next step?

Clarity doesn’t come first — it comes through action. Instead of waiting for certainty, identify one doable thing that’s within your control.

💠Ask yourself: ✅ What’s one small move I can make today?

✅ If I trusted myself a little more, what would I try next?

Uncertainty is part of being human — and it’s not going away. But you don’t have to stay stuck in it.

The next time things feel unclear, try this: Feel → Ask → Choose. Repeat as needed.

What coaching can offer in moments like this:

  • Co-create options that move you forward

  • Break out of thought loops or assumptions

  • Explore what you really want — and what’s in the way
